Grass Lake Warriors Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 11-3 loss to Manchester on Monday. Manchester scored on a double by Hayley Blumenauer in the first inning, a single by Jordan Porter in the first inning, and a fielder’s choice by Liz O’Hotzke in the second inning.
The Grass Lake Warriors Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Manchester, giving up 11 runs.
In the bottom of the first inning, Manchester tied things up at two. Porter drove in one when she singled.
Manchester pulled away for good with one run in the second inning. In the second Dana Peterson induced O’Hotzke to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Manchester scored six runs in the fourth inning. Porter, Delaney Bross, Maddy Harris, and Abbie Hiller each had RBIs in the big inning.
O’Hotzke was the winning pitcher for Manchester. She allowed eight hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out eight.
Peterson took the loss for Grass Lake Warriors Varsity. She lasted three and a third innings, allowing four hits and six runs while striking out one and walking zero.
Grass Lake Warriors Varsity totaled eight hits. Peterson and Chance Macomber all had multiple hits for Grass Lake Warriors Varsity. Peterson led Grass Lake Warriors Varsity with three hits in four at bats.
Manchester had nine hits in the game. Taryn Fether and Porter all managed multiple hits for Manchester.
