Makayla Miller was an RBI machine on Thursday, driving in four on two hits to lead Grass Lake Warriors Varsity past Springport 17-9 on Thursday. Miller drove in runs on a home run in the second and a fielder’s choice in the third.

Grass Lake Warriors Varsity grabbed an early lead. Grass Lake Warriors Varsity scored on a walk by Megan Niehaus in the first inning, a groundout by Chance Macomber in the first inning, a single by Anna Konopka in the first inning, a walk by Anna Lockridge in the second inning, a single by Niehaus in the second inning, a groundout by Konopka in the second inning, a single by Kaysey Cook in the second inning, and a home run by Miller in the second inning.

Grass Lake Warriors Varsity notched eight runs in the second inning. The offensive firepower by Grass Lake Warriors Varsity was led by Lockridge, Niehaus, Konopka, Cook, and Miller, all driving in runs in the frame.

Cook earned the win for Grass Lake Warriors Varsity. She lasted six and a third innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out five and walking one. Niehaus and Dana Peterson entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
