The Varsity Volleyball team traveled to Lumen Christi to take on Springport for the Division Three District Championship. The Lady Warriors came determined to earn that District Title and weren’t going to leave without it. Abby Buttigieg started the Warriors off on a service run in the first set getting the team a 10-0 lead. The team kept the ball rolling all through the first set and closed it out 25-18. Going into the second set the teams fought back and fourth within a few points until Ruby Johnson got back to the service line and took the score from 9-5 warriors to 14-5 warriors. The team finished the second set 25-13. Grass Lake got a little too comfortable in the third set letting Springport jump to a 0-6 lead early. Springport held a 5-12 lead until Johnson once again went back to the service line and brought The Warriors back into the game moving the score to 10-13 with four aces after her loss of serve. Grass Lake finally closed out the tight match with a score of 25-22. Johnson ended the night serving 10/11 with seven aces and nine points and also had seven kills. Abby Buttigieg was 19/20 serving with 15 points. Abby led the team with 19 digs. Amber Boomer followed with 13 digs and led the team in kills with nine. Jasmine Carr had eight kills, two blocks, and seven digs. Amelia Hamlin had 27 assists and was perfect serving going 13/13 with seven points. The team travels to Columbia Central to face off against Bronson Tuesday night at 5:30pm.
